Course Description
This nationally recognised qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated services across Australia. Educators at this level are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum aligned with approved learning frameworks and maintaining compliance in service operations.
Educators apply specialised knowledge and analyse theoretical concepts in a variety of work settings. They may also supervise other educators or volunteers.
Career settings include long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools and kindergartens.
To achieve this qualification, students must complete at least 280 hours of work placement in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia. These hours may be spread across relevant units requiring practical experience.

Entry Requirements
Pre-requisites:
- CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care OR
- CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
Academic Entry Requirements:
- Completion of Year 11 in Australia or equivalent overseas
- OR Holders of an AQF Level II qualification or above
- OR Applicants with relevant industry experience and no formal qualification
- Must be 18 years or older
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN)
Students must complete an LLN assessment prior to enrolment. Expected ACSF levels for this course are:
- Learning – Level 4
- Reading – Level 4
- Writing – Level 4
- Oral Communication – Level 4
- Numeracy – Level 4

Duration: 80 weeks (65 weeks tuition + 15 weeks holiday breaks)
